What’s up guys, welcome back to the Educated Bar Flight. Today we’re doing a special episode for you - 10 easy summer cocktails. It’s party season and if you’re a cocktail enthusiast like me, you’re probably the one that everyone goes to to create the cocktails for your parties. So, I thought I’d make it easier for you guys this year and give you guys 10 easy, very refreshing, and crowd-pleasing cocktails to make for your friends. And then, you can be the hero of all your parties.

First up, we have the modern Cosmo. The modern Cosmo was created by Tony Cicchini at Odeon in 1988, which is a bar in New York City. It was made globally famous by its inclusion in the show Sex and the City on HBO, which made this cocktail a household name. It was also one of the first craft cocktails to use Absolute Citron, which was a new product at the time. To make it, we’ll need one ounce of lime juice, one ounce of cranberry juice (we used ocean spray), one ounce of Cointreau, and two ounces of Absolute Citron. Add some ice to your tin, double strain it, and add a little lemon spritz. Voila! Your modern Cosmo is ready.

The second cocktail is an Ivy Gimlet. This is a light, refreshing cocktail that plays with Daiquiri specs, just subbing out some vodka and putting in a small handful of mint. Add the mint, one ounce of fresh lime juice, three-quarters of an ounce of simple syrup, and two ounces of vodka. Muddle it lightly to release the oils into the cocktail, add your ice, and you’ve got yourself an Ivy Gimlet.

Moving into the gin category, we have the Floradora. This one’s pretty simple - half an ounce of simple syrup, four fresh raspberries, three-quarters of an ounce of raspberry syrup (or three-quarters of an ounce of lime juice if you don’t have raspberry syrup), and two ounces of gin. Give it a light tamp to break up those raspberries and shake it up!

For our fourth cocktail, we’ll make a fresh berry adaptation of Dick Bradsel’s very popular Bramble. Take three blackberries and put them at the bottom of a glass. Give them a light muddle with three-quarters of an ounce of lemon juice, three-quarters of an ounce of simple syrup, and two ounces of gin. Shake it up, add some crushed ice, and garnish with a blackberry on top!

Next up, let’s move into the agave spirits category with the highly satisfying Tijuana Rocket. Take one thick wheel of jalapeño and one square of red bell pepper, three-quarters of an ounce of lime juice, three-quarters of an ounce of pomegranate molasses, and two ounces of reposado tequila. Muddle it gently, add some ice, and shake it up. Garnish with a jalapeño slice, and you have yourself a Tijuana Rocket.

The seventh cocktail - the Saladito - is a really refreshing take on a sour with mezcal. Three-quarters of an ounce of lime juice, three-quarters of an ounce of honey syrup, and two ounces of mezcal. Add your ice and give it a nice shake, then double strain it and add a little dusting of cayenne pepper.

Moving into the rum category, we have the Iax Punch - a cocktail that is built right in the glass. Add a couple of watermelon and cucumber slices, three-quarters of an ounce of lime juice, and a quarter-ounce of simple syrup. Gently muddle until all the flavors are combined. Add one and a half ounces of white rum, ice cubes, and top it off with sparkling wine or Prosecco. Garnish it with basil and watermelon - and there you have it!

The ninth cocktail is a super easy one - the Dark and Stormy. Build it in a specific way: three-quarters of an ounce of lime juice, ice, top it up with ginger beer and two ounces of Gosling’s Black Seal Rum. Layer it on top of the ginger beer so when you serve it, it looks beautiful.

Finally, let’s make the Pimms Number One Cup. Add a little handful of mint in the bottom of the glass, citrus (lemon, lime, and orange), and some strawberries. Top it up with Pimms No. 1, lemonade, and ginger ale; garnish with a cucumber slice and strawberry.

There you go - ten easy summer cocktails that you can make for your friends and family. Have fun and enjoy them!
