Ein Nudelauflauf für die Seele | Günstig kochen

Hey Boss, today I am cooking with you one of the most popular dishes in Germany, a noodle casserole with tomato, mozzarella, and basil. And it is also one of the cheapest dishes ever because today we are spending only 1.50 euro per person. Cheap cooking is also a bit of the theme of today’s video because this video is in cooperation with Rewe. How this came about, I will tell you a bit later. But let’s start with the recipe first.

To begin with, I put some noodle water in a pot to boil. Next, I chop one onion; probably the most unpopular task in the kitchen. In one of my last videos, some of you asked how to avoid crying while chopping onions. The answer to this that I received from some of you was to use a sharp knife. A sharp knife is essential as it reduces the amount of onion juice that is released, which is what irritates the eyes. Let’s see if my knife is sharp enough today. Now, I will dice the onion. Another interesting suggestion I received was to put the onion in the freezer for half an hour. I have never tried this, but it sounds reasonable. Freezing the onion will freeze the juices, which will make them less likely to be released. But for now, let’s put the onion in the pan.

I also add some garlic that I cut in half. After a few minutes of cooking, I add some pasta sauce and let it simmer for a few minutes. In the meantime, I halve and quarter some tomatoes. The pasta is boiling in the background, and I make sure to add plenty of salt to the water. Remember, it’s the water that needs the salt, not the pasta itself. The pasta needs about 8 minutes to be cooked, but I will take it out one minute earlier because it will also be baked in the oven. I add some olive oil to the onion and garlic and let it cook for a few more minutes.

Now, I pour some cream into the tomato sauce and add some salt, pepper, and oregano. You can also add some chili flakes if you like a bit of spiciness. However, I do not add any sugar, as I try to consume less sugar. If you want, you can add a bit of sugar to balance the acidity of the tomatoes. After mixing the sauce and the pasta, I put everything in an oven-safe dish and add some grated cheese on top. I bake it for a few minutes until the cheese has melted and becomes golden brown.

Now, let me tell you a bit about the cooperation with Rewe. A few days ago, I was invited to a talk round in their pop-up store in Berlin. There, I met some other creators, including the famous HD. At Rewe, you can buy the ingredients for five of the most popular German dishes at a low price. You can then guess the cost of your shopping, and if you’re right, you get it for free. And if you’re wrong, a donation will be made with the earnings. The store is open until the 6th of April in Berlin, so if you are in the area, make sure to visit.

In conclusion, this pasta casserole is tasty and easy to make. It’s also very affordable, making it perfect for those of you on a budget. Cooking cheaply does not mean compromising on taste, and as I have shown you, it’s possible to make delicious food without spending too much money. And that’s what this cooperation with Rewe is all about. So, go ahead and try this recipe for yourself.
