Mein einfachstes Brotrezept: Kein Kneten, kein Aufgehenlassen. Mehl, Salz, Hefe und ein Topf

About a year ago, I published my now-famous bread baking video here. Nearly a million people have seen it, and I receive daily photos from people who have baked the bread themselves. I’ve even simplified the recipe a bit since then. Today, because I’m waiting for a courier, I thought we’d quickly bake one together.

First, let’s gather our ingredients. I only had white flour and a braided loaf in the house, but you can use whole grain or spelt flour if you prefer. We’ll also need 21 grams of salt (it’s a personal preference), a cube of yeast, and warm water.

Now that we have everything, we can mix it up in a bowl. No kneading is necessary, and we just need to make sure the salt is evenly distributed. Once everything is combined, we let it sit for about 15 minutes, and it’s ready to bake.

I prefer using a Römertopf, but you can use any oven-safe container with a lid. We line it with baking paper, so the bread won’t stick, and pour in the batter. This is the trickiest part, but as long as you’re careful, it should be fine.

Once the batter is in the container, we sprinkle flour on top and put the lid on. It goes in the oven for an hour and a half at 250 degrees Celsius, and then the magic happens. The bread comes out of the oven and is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Don’t forget to let it cool on a rack before you slice it, and enjoy the delicious aroma. This bread has become a staple in my home, and I’m sure it will become a staple in yours too. It’s easy to make, requires minimal effort, and tastes amazing.

Overall, bread baking may seem daunting at first, but with a little bit of patience and practice, anyone can do it. Plus, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of biting into a fresh, warm slice of homemade bread.
