The future of prescriptions is digital, and soon you will rarely have to issue a pink paper prescription and instead prescribe and transmit medications electronically for your patients. Here is how it works: Ms. Mueller had a surgical procedure, and you want to prescribe an antibiotic. You create the prescription in your practice management system as usual.
The prescription is automatically checked for completeness. In the prescription preview, you will now find a signature function instead of the print function. To trigger the electronic signature, you insert your electronic dentist card into the card terminal and enter your PIN. The e-prescription is then securely stored in the telematics infrastructure.
To issue e-prescriptions even faster and easier, you can activate the convenience signature. It enables the signing of up to 250 documents within 24 hours with only one PIN entry. Now ask your patients whether they want to receive their e-prescription on paper or on their smartphone via app.
Ms. Mueller already uses the gematik e-prescription app and wants to manage her e-prescription on her smartphone. She can generate the prescription code with the access data for the e-prescription in the app and electronically assign it to a pharmacy for redemption. The alternative to the app is a token printout.
This is a paper printout of the e-prescription with a prescription code and further information about the medication. The token printout is also created via the practice management system. It is printed after the signature. Another signature is not necessary. For the time being, e-prescriptions are only allowed for prescription medications that are reimbursed by statutory health insurance. Further prescriptions will be gradually digitized.
In special cases such as technical failures or home visits, you can still issue the pink paper prescription, sample 16. You need the following requirements for the e-prescription: 1. Your personal electronic dentist card including PIN. 2. Software update of your practice management system. In addition, you need an update of your connector for the convenience signature. The future of the prescription is not pink, but digital.
