Gambas al Ajillo (Knoblauchgarnelen) - Urlaubsgeschmack zuhause - Westmünsterland BBQ
Hey there and welcome to Westmünsterland Barbecue! Today we’re going to prepare a traditional Spanish tapas dish with shrimp, more specifically with some beautiful jumbo shrimp, also known as gambas. We’ll be making gambas al ajillo, a popular Spanish garlic shrimp dish. I’m a little nervous today because we have a lot of wasps around, but I’m glad you all could make it. Don’t worry, we’ll try to be quick.
The shrimp we’ll be using were frozen, but they’ve already been deveined and cleaned, and have a little tail on them that we’ll remove by pulling it off. We’re going to cook these in a small, shallow pan with some olive oil, garlic, sweet paprika, and a touch of cayenne pepper for some heat. We’ll also be adding a splash of cognac before grilling the shrimp on the barbecue for 10 minutes. They’ll be so fragrant and delicious!
To get rid of the wasps, I’ve tried a few different methods, including a water sprayer and a nebulizer, but they’re still buzzing around. They seem to be attracted to the fish, so we’ll have to be extra careful. But that won’t stop us from making the perfect gambas al ajillo!
While the shrimp are grilling, we’ll chop up some parsley to sprinkle on top for some garnish and extra flavor. We’ve also toasted some baguette slices to dip in the garlic and olive oil mixture left in the pan after cooking the shrimp. It’s a simple and easy dish, perfect for entertaining guests or enjoying as an appetizer.
