As the Christmas decorations and streamers come together, it’s not long until New Year’s Eve is upon us. It’s hard to believe that another year has gone by so quickly. Of course, with the holiday season comes delicious food and drinks, and it’s the perfect time to spend with friends and family.

One of my favorite festive drinks is a fruity punch, which I first tried in the 80s when my parents used to make it for our New Year’s Eve parties. Traditionally, it involved canned fruit, but I think it’s much nicer to chop up fresh fruits of your choice.

For this punch, I’ve chosen to use 4-500g of chopped fruit, including apples, pears, lychees, raspberries, and grapes. I’ve added some lemon juice and sugar to sweeten the mixture before adding cherry liquor. Once the fruit has had a chance to soak up the liquid, it’s time to add some champagne or white wine, as well as some soda water.

For those who don’t want to include alcohol, the punch can be just as delicious made with non-alcoholic wine or soda water. The bright colors of the fruit make for a fun and festive drink that’s perfect for all ages.

To make the punch, you’ll need to start by chopping up the fruit and adding lemon juice and sugar. Leave the fruit to stand for at least 30 minutes so that the juices can infuse, and then add some cherry liquer. After that, it’s time to add your champagne or white wine, and top it off with some sparkling soda water.
