Grundrezept Ausstechplätzchen / Teig zum Ausstechen / Kekse Mürbteigkekse | Kikis Kitchen

Have you ever tried making homemade cookies? If not, let me show you how to make my basic cookie dough recipe that I use all year round for different occasions. I usually make decorated cookies out of it, which are great for any festive celebration. To start with, we will need 330 grams of flour, 140 grams of sugar, 180 grams of soft butter, 1 egg (size M), a pinch of salt and 5 grams of baking powder.

Firstly, we need to beat the soft butter with the sugar and the salt using the dough hook of a kitchen machine. If you don’t have one, you can also use a hand mixer. After about a minute, add the egg and keep mixing until the dough becomes smooth. Afterwards, add sieved flour and baking powder and combine everything together. The dough will now be crumbly, so we have to knead it by hand on a clean surface until it becomes smooth.

I recommend using gloves while kneading, as tiny bits of dough will get caught under your nails and can be uncomfortable. When the dough is smooth, cover it with plastic wrap and put it in the fridge to cool for at least four hours, but overnight is also possible.

Before rolling, take the dough out of the fridge and let it soften for a few seconds. Then, either place it between two sheets of baking paper, or sprinkle flour on a work surface and roll out the dough thinly. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters or use a stencil to create specific designs.

Refrigerate the cutouts for at least ten minutes, so they don’t spread when baked. Then, preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius (375 degrees Fahrenheit) and bake the cookies for about twelve minutes until lightly golden. Homemade cookies taste much better than store-bought ones and are also great gifts for your friends and family.

In the end, you can decorate your cookies with icing or melted chocolate, or sprinkle them with some sugar or colored sprinkles. The possibilities are endless, and this basic dough recipe is perfect for experimenting with different flavors and decorations.
