Eis selber machen! // Mit der KitchenAid
Music: Welcome to my technology channel. Today, I will be showcasing an accessory for the KitchenAid – the ice maker. This ice maker allows you to make homemade ice quickly, easily and more importantly, it is always fresh. I find it really cool to make my own ice, especially for my kids and my friend Moritz. Today, I will be sharing some basic tips on how to use it, a recipe with only two ingredients and some insights into its maintenance.
The ice maker consists of three parts – the cooling container, the arm and the adapter. It is vital that the cooling container is put in the freezer for at least 15 hours before use. You should ensure that it fits in your freezer because it is not very big but can contain up to 1.9 liters of ice – quite a cool quantity. For optimal ice-making results, set your freezer to the coldest temperature possible - between -24 and -26 degrees Celsius. It is crucial, especially during summer when outside temperatures are high and the ice maker can warm up quickly.
Do not leave the ice maker out for too long. I have kept mine in the fridge where it can cool down before I start making ice. To prepare your ingredients, I will be making a two-ingredient ice cream – cream and condensed milk. It is an excellent base, and you can find more exciting recipes on my blog or the KitchenAid instruction manual as cleaning and maintenance are essential when using this accessory.
The ice mixture should be prepared beforehand. Some recipes require heating on the stove and should then be cooled to fridge temperature. This way the ice will freeze better. I am going to mix together the whipped cream and condensed milk for the ice cream. It is a straightforward recipe, but you can add a vanilla extract for vanilla ice cream or fruits like raspberries and blueberries to make a fruity ice cream.
When it comes to the ice-mass, the rule of thumb is the more fat content, the creamier the ice. You can use yogurt with a fat content of 19%, or even low-fat yogurt for a nice texture. I am now ready to use the ice maker. It has two slots, and I will be using slot B as my KitchenAid is without faults. It is essential to use the lowest speed because the mixture must be stirred slowly. When you are pouring the mixture, be sure not to fill the container entirely. Remember that it can make up to 1.3 liters of ice and expand to 1.9 liters
It takes 20 to 30 minutes to obtain the desired consistency. When it starts to thicken, you can add nuts, chocolate, fruits or sweets like smarties to give it a more diverse taste. When it is done, be sure to turn off the machine before cleaning it. The ice maker can be washed with your hands or put into the dishwasher- the adapter and the cooling container is more delicate, and we have to be very careful washing them. They should never be put in the dishwasher. In a few simple steps, you can create delicious homemade ice cream to share with your loved ones. Enjoy!
