Hey guys, thanks for tuning in today! We’re going to do a little how-to on schnitzel. So, how do you actually make a basic schnitzel? There are two ways to make it, if you want to eat it outdoors. First, you often see Wiener Schnitzel, which means you have a breaded schnitzel that is made from pork meat. The original Wiener Schnitzel, however, is made from delicious veal, which is also significantly more expensive but well worth it in my opinion.

To start off, you’ll need the meat. Make sure it’s nice and flat by giving it a few whacks with a meat tenderizer (use some cling film to avoid a mess). Now, onto the breading! Crack two eggs into a bowl and add a pinch of pepper and a good amount of salt. Mix until you have a nice base flavor.

Next up is the breadcrumbs, which you can either buy (like I did) or make yourself by grating some stale bread. Add some pepper and mix it all up.

Now it’s time to get started with the breading. Take three plates and fill them with flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs, respectively. Dip both sides of the meat into the flour first, then the eggs, and finish off with the breadcrumbs.

Heat up some oil or butter in a pan and let it get hot. Add the schnitzel and let it fry for a few minutes until golden brown. Don’t forget to flip it over and repeat! Make sure to keep an eye on the heat so it doesn’t burn, and shake the pan a bit to make sure nothing gets stuck.

Once it’s cooked through, take it out of the pan and let it rest for a minute. Squeeze some lemon juice over it for added flavor and serve with some French fries, mashed potatoes, or roasted potatoes. And that’s it, you’ve made a delicious schnitzel!

I hope this how-to was helpful for you. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different kinds of meat or spices. Have fun and enjoy your meal!
