Zaziki
Up next, we have a recipe for a classic Greek dip that pairs perfectly with pita bread or veggies. This Zaziki recipe is light, refreshing, and packed with flavor. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt
- 1 cucumber, grated and drained
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp of olive oil
- 1 tbsp of chopped fresh dill
- Salt and pepper to taste
First, grate your cucumber and place it in a strainer over a bowl to drain out any excess liquid. In a separate bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, minced garlic, olive oil, and chopped dill. Stir in the grated cucumber and season with salt and pepper to taste. Chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour to allow the flavors to meld together. Serve with pita bread, veggies, or as a topping for grilled meats. Delish!
Sauerbraten
If you’re in the mood for a warm and hearty meal, try out this recipe for classic German Sauerbraten. It’s a bit of a labor of love, but the end result is oh-so-worth-it. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 3-4 lbs of boneless beef chuck roast
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 8 whole cloves
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/2 cup of red wine vinegar
- 4 cups of beef broth
- 2 tbsp of cornstarch
- 1/2 cup of sour cream
First, season your beef chuck roast with salt and pepper and brown on all sides in a dutch oven over medium-high heat. Remove the beef and set aside on a plate. In the same dutch oven, add in the chopped onion, carrots, and celery and cook until softened. Add in the whole cloves, bay leaves, cinnamon stick, red wine vinegar, and beef broth. Bring to a simmer and then add the beef back in. Cover with a lid and cook in the oven at 325°F for 2-3 hours, or until the beef is fork-tender.
Remove the beef from the dutch oven and set aside on a plate. Strain the cooking liquid through a fine mesh sieve and discard the solids. Return the liquid to the dutch oven over medium-high heat. In a small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and sour cream until smooth. Add this mixture to the cooking liquid and whisk until thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve the sliced beef with the gravy and your choice of sides.
Mickey Mouse Oreos
And last but not least, we’ve got a recipe for a dessert that’s sure to put a smile on your face – Mickey Mouse Oreos! These adorable treats are a fun twist on a classic snack. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 package of Oreo cookies
- 1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 bag of white chocolate chips
- Mickey Mouse cookie cutter
First, melt your semi-sweet chocolate chips in a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring until smooth. Dip each Oreo cookie in the chocolate until coated and place on a sheet of wax paper to set. Repeat with all cookies. Once the chocolate has set, melt your white chocolate chips in the same manner. Using your Mickey Mouse cookie cutter, cut out Mickey shapes from the Oreo cookies. Dip each Mickey-shaped cookie in the white chocolate until coated and place on a sheet of wax paper to set. Repeat with all cookies. Once the white chocolate has set, use a black icing writer to draw on Mickey’s facial features. Ta-da! You’ve got yourself some seriously cute and tasty treats.
And there you have it, my friends – some seriously delicious recipes and snacks that are sure to impress. Happy cooking!
