Mix all the dry ingredients together in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and add the milk. Stir this into the dry ingredients, then fold in the corn kernels.

In a deep pan, heat up enough vegetable oil to cover the fritters. Once it’s hot, scoop up spoonfuls of the mixture and carefully drop them into the oil. Fry them until they’re golden brown on both sides, then use a slotted spoon to take them out and place them on some paper towels to drain the excess oil.
